i would like to know how much would this cost. It would be nice if the only thing you'd hear would be your analog clock and your heartbeat. Also great for those living in the cities. Would those egg boxes make good sound proofer as well?

One of the most common soundproofing questions I hear most is "How do I soundproof my condo or apartment from those noisy neighbors who live above?" Generally the most annoying noise is what is known as "foot fall" or "impact noise" Impact noise is noise that is caused by heavy walking on the floor of the neighbor above. It can also be caused by chairs dragging across a hardwood floor above or simply the impact of a fork or plate that is dropped on the floor above.

Great advice. I live in an apartment where it seems like literally my upstairs neighbors play a game where they like the pick up all the furniture and drop it...that's what it sounds like! Now I have some tips to reduce this level of noise!

I bet that this is the way I'm going to build my house so the kids running upstairs don't bother me during the day! (I work nights).
seriously having kids is a noise problem when there are enough of them, and letting them be kids is the consideration. you buy a two story house to have the room for them . I might as well have the comfort of of being able to sleep soundly while they can have a normal day!
Thanks for sharing this idea. Tommy

Thank you so much for the advice. It sure looks like a lot of work but the vision of finally being able to sleep a whole night without "waiting for the other shoe" so to speak is just too good to pass it :)
